Glitter War Studies: Pegacorn
My brother asked me to paint a picture for his daughter, with two princess castles caught in a glitter war with flying unicorns and rainbows. I did a few studies on it last week, and over the weekend I painted the Pegacorn as a draft. I want to experiment with how to paint that because…

Glitter War: Studies
My Brother asked me to paint a picture for his daughter like the illustrations I did recently. Im pretty intimidated to paint something for him to be honest, because he is such a talented and accomplished artist. (Did I mention hes the lead VFX artist for Epics Fortnite?) Anyway, I took him up on it…

Cows on Zuercher Rd: #4
I painted this one ala prima (which means I didnt sketch it, and I painted it in one sitting.) I did this because I felt my last attempts were constrained by the sketch, and disjointed by letting the layers sit too long before coming back to it. I think doing it this way opened me…

Cows on Zuercher Rd: #3
Well, time to try it for real. First, I sketched it. Ive written so much here and here and here about this painting that Im ok just going for it this time. Im not going to over think it. Im not going to stop and photograph every brush stroke. Im going to try to put…

Cows on Zuercher Rd: How I Drew a Cow
I realized looking at the last painting that I put all my time into painting the landscape and just hoped the cow would come out. Needless to say, that doesnt work. The cow is the focal point! I was leaving the cow as an afterthought because I was intimidated by it. I dont know anything…

Honestly, Im just trying to explain this stuff to myself so I can paint a pretty picture. Seriously… I decided that my last attempt at this…

Cows on Zuercher Rd: #1
A while back I went to my friend Brandens house and painted in his back yard. Id like to do it again sometime. When I left his house, I saw some cows in a field, so I called my Wife and asked if she would mind if I stayed out a little longer. Graciously, she…

Fly on the Moon: #1
We had these moon flower plants in our yard when I was a kid, and I just simply loved them. When my mom and dad moved from our childhood home, I asked my mom to bring me some of the moonflower pods so I could grow them here. This morning, I decided to paint one,…

Stop Looking at Me SWAAAAN.
Rachel and I went to Gervasi Still House for coffee today before work. I was pleasantly surprised. They had great coffee, with a free refill, and it wasnt expensive. We might have to do that more often. After coffee, Rachel left for work, but I still had some time to kill, so I walked around…

Cows on a Hill: #1
I really liked the sky I painted last night, so today I wanted to paint something with a big wide open sky. I have also been enamored with Joseph Zbukvics cows, so I wanted to try that as well. To start, I used C4b to wet the paper. Then an F3w of UM Blue and…
